BINOCULAR GIANTS

Surviving dinosaurs, classic porro binoculars in rubber armor. Who uses them? Hunters? Definitely not for hiking. They are huge and heavy, but optically very good, have comfortable view and are bright. They are dark side specialists.

FUJINON FMT-SX 7X50, STEINER NIGHTHUNTER Extrem 8X56,  DOCTER Nobilem 8X56 B

Size comparison to Swarovski 8X30 SLC which is only slightly smaller than 8x42 full size binoculars.

DOCTER Nobilem 8X56 B

Its design already reveals its roots -DDR. It is hard to complain about optics and central focus always comes in handy. Most awkward are its eyepieces. They are too small and sharp edge is uncomfortable.

STEINER NIGHTHUNTER EXTREME 8X56

Beautifully made and well equipped. Unfortunately, optically weakest. Narrowest field of view, not so bright and not so sharp to the edges. On the other hand, you can be very well focused on the observed object, eyepieces are great and it is the smallest and lightest of the three. Depth of field is good and IF is not a problem.

FUJINON FMT-SX 7X50

Its magnification is not exactly comparable. Maybe this is why it has the best view - simply excellent. Perfect for general observation. Eyepieces are slightly too large. There is a newer model, but the design is not much more attractive.
